sensation" takes ten years. You need to realize that there is a good

chance the success you are seeking won't happen within the next week,

month, or year. In fact, it may take several years.

There is not one single thing you will do or person you will meet that will

make you successful as a musician. Most music business careers are a

series of thousands of very small steps with a few leaps and jumps along

the way. Things don't happen on your time schedule; they happen when

they happen.

2. They call this the music business because it is a business.

All too often, musicians think that musical success will come to them if

they create good music and simply show up at the local bar to play a gig.

This is fine for those who simply want to play rock star, but attaining true

musical success takes a lot more.

Your path to musical success isn't going to be all fun and games. While

the industry sells that image on MTV and in magazines like Spin and

Rolling Stone, it is far from reality.

This is work and there will be some days where you're not going to want
